Purpose of Position:
Primary responsibility is to ensure production equipment uptime and availability. Provide direction and leadership to Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technicians, maintenance contractors and OEM equipment support. Utilize CMMS to plan and schedule preventive, repair and routine work. Implement predictive and preventive maintenance techniques to prevent downtime.
Additional responsibilities involve working with Director of Operations and Process Engineering Manager to maximize operations workflow efficiency by analyzing layout of facility, equipment, workflow, process methods, work force utilization and workplace safety to determine facility optimization. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
•Manages reliability best practices, preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance of production and facilities equipment.
•Ensure optimum up time of production equipment. Develop KPI’s
•Ensure optimum up time of facilities equipment
•Plans and schedules maintenance activities on a daily basis
•Manages automation (PLC) and support using Maintenance Technicians and OEM support
•Tracks and manages utilities both usage and billing. Implement energy savings projects
•Manages general building maintenance and upgrades.
•Manages, develops and specifies vendor contracts for site support/work.
•Manages the safety, quality, cost, delivery and environmental outcomes of all contract work at site.
•Manages Central Stores and inventory.
•Manages site Security.
•Daily involvement with production operations
•Works with department Managers/Supervisors to identify and recommend new methods to improve Manufacturing performance.
•Manage projects including planning, justification, implementation
•Assists Project Manager with developing, justifying and tracking capital and expense project plans, budgets and timelines for the facility.
•Assists project manager with implementation of installations.
•Maintains equipment specifications and verifies all installations adhere to specifications.
•Manages vendors and works with purchasing to obtain quotes and initiate purchase requests.
•Supervises/schedules and assigns work to meet completion date(s).
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; is preferred or 5-7 years of experience as a Maintenance and Facilities Manager.
•5 to 7 years of progressive experience in a Maintenance and Facilities Management role at a medium to large manufacturing facility, preferably in the automotive, rubber or textile industry.
•Experience with PLC, HMI, variable speed drive systems
•Experience with thermal oil, chilled water, compressed air, Electrical distribution, RTO, industrial ventilation systems.
•Experience in equipment repair, maintenance and reliability best practices
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•CMMS system knowledge – MAXIMO preferred. Experience with implementing CMMS
•Computer literate in CAD/Excel/Microsoft Word
•Due Diligence, Emergency Response/Spill Response training
•Lift Truck training
•Understanding of Occupational Health regulations and Company procedures
•Understanding of Fire Codes and Building Codes
•Understanding of Environmental regulations and experience dealing with regulators
•Partner with the Environmental Engineering Manager to ensure regulatory compliance with State, Federal and Local authorities.
•Partner with the Environmental Engineering Manager to ensure environmental rules and regulations are in compliance.
•Emergency coordination/response for the facility.
•Partner with the Environmental Engineering Manager to ensure safety rules and regulations are in compliance.
•Responsible for working with Quality Assurance Management and Environmental Management to maintain Quality, Environmental and Safety certifications.
•Leads a diverse group of maintenance personnel to service the facilities.
•Develops, Coaches and mentors staff as appropriate to improve performance, skill and talent.
•Evaluate performance of subordinates and the department through performance appraisals.
•Employee discipline when required
•Develops metrics and ensures performance of areas within scope of influence.
•This position includes office and shop floor environment. Shop floor work may involve investigation of machine problems, troubleshooting process and equipment.
•In emergencies, this position could be exposed to chemicals requiring PPE
•Standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekends and overtime hours to accommodate activities
